When You Pass By
I photographed 92 Calgarians and asked them the same three questions. The project continues to show our shared humanity, messages of hope, and boxes some people want to break out of.
” I am still finding my way. I had to start learning belonging with myself and be at peace with what I am. Then appreciate myself to finally love myself. I now can say proudly that I am supported at home but there is a long way to go for me to feel accepted and supported at work. Outside of the house, I still feel the need to dim my light out of fear for retaliation from ignorant people who unfortunately shown me an opposition into educating themselves. Outing myself in Mexico to strangers who ended up accepting me and loving me showed me it sometimes is better to change circles than getting stuck with people who are not ready for your glory. Then my husband showed me the serenity of finally saying : This is me. Just be. The key to make sure everyone feels like they belong in this world is to check your ego at the door. Listen, understand and acknowledge that others peoples lives have nothing to do with you.”

We are passionate about bringing people together through the power of stories and open conversation to drive empathy, compassion, and understanding for one another.
